Bgirls? What's that? That's the likely response you'll get from a person who doesn't know much about breakdancing. There are many highly skilled bgirls, but they are overlooked due to gender inequalities. Think about it. If a dance crew had a majority of females and a minority of males, it would probably still be called a bboy crew. However, the number of bgirls is rapidly increasing and women are playing a larger role in the breakdancing world. The only huge problem that remains is the lack of promotion that is solely dedicated to bgirls and female-only battles. This makes it harder for really talented female breadancers to become well known. Not all hope is lost. There are shows that feature highly skilled bgirl crews, such as America's Best Dance Crew, which showed crews such as the Beat Freaks. The Beat Freaks took second place on the show and if they won first place, they would have made history by being the first all female crew to win the competition. The huge amount support for the Beat Freaks shows just how bright the future of bgirls will be.
Below is a video of all of Beat Freaks' performances on America's Best Dance Crew.
