Martin Brodeur is one of the NHL's most accomplished goalies of all time and is without a doubt the best goalie currently playing for the league. He has played for the New Jersey Devils for 15 years and in that time has led them to 3 Stanley Cup championships, and 11 more playoff appearances. During his time as a goalie they missed a playoff appearance only once. He's the recipient of Four Vezian Trophies, 4 Jennings Trophies, a Calder Memorial Trophy, is a 10 times NHL All-Star and has had 7, 40-win seasons (the most in NHL history). Brodeur uses a hybrid style of play preferring to stand-up more then use a butterfly stance. He's known for his puck handling, his reflexes, especially with his glove hand, but enough talking. Brodeur is one of those players whose skills speak for themselves.

Ten MORE Brodeur Moments (sense a pattern?)
Brodeur becoming the most winning-est (?) goalie in NHL history with his 552nd win
One of the biggest highlights, or lowlights, was Brodeur's spat with Sean Avery of the Rangers. In the 2007-2008 season playoffs Avery would go in front of Brodeur, ignoring the puck, and try to distract him so other players could score. While it wasn't an illegal move, most referees and fans agreed it was very un-sportsman like and so it ultimately became a minor penalty to distract a goalie in the style of Avery.
An Example of Avery's Tactic
Brodeur was so upset with Avery that he refused to shake his hand at the end of the game, a customary part of any hockey game to show good sportsmanship.
It can't be denied that Brodeur is a strong force in NHL and the hockey world, but the question is whether he will age gracefully and retire while still good? Or will he try to draw out his skills as long as possible hoping to stay famous? Only time will tell.
