This year the New York Mets openTheir their much anticipated new stadium. The exterior resembles Ebbets field while the interior is much nicer and more open than Shea. Despite these attributes Citi Field is a terrible baseball stadium.
Here are the five top reasons that Citi Field is horrible:
- The stadium plays too big. The lack of homeruns or even potential for homeruns takes a lot of the excitement out of the games. There is no reason that baseballs need to bang off the top of a 16 foot fence after going 408 feet. Let 'em leave the park.
- The seats became too expensive. Many season ticket holders were expected to pay double or even triple the amount of money for similar tickets.
- The food is even more expensive than it was at Shea, it's not bad enough that ticket prices skyrocketed but now in some places it costs 7 dollars for french fries.
- The stadium focuses too much on luxury and interesting features rather than showcasing a ballgame. Features such as the MO'zone and strange bullpen configuration were not well thought out.
- Finally the Jackie Robinson Rotunda is a little bit over the top. In the entrance to the Met's new home it is almost impossible to find a reference to the team itself. I have no problem with honoring one of the most courageous baseball players of all time but do they really need to make him the sole focus in their grand entrance.

... You also forgot the millions of injuries on the Mets roster. The stadium just doesn't have good Fung Shaway (you know that azn thing thats like how you set furniture up affect you) |
