Fahrenheit 451 became a classic science fiction novel with its concept of a future where books are burned and destroyed by firemen for the "good of humanity." The novel came out in 1953 and presents a future American society in which the masses only look for pleasure, and critical thought through reading is outlawed. It was turned into a motion picture which has had a generally positive reception. Now there is speculation of a graphic novel coming out. This has brought out some controversy since a graphic novel is pretty much a comic book, but the author of the original book, Ray Bradbury, has approved of the concept.
