It’s August!! For soccer fans, this means that a new season has just started!!! This year is especially going to be nerve-wrecking because of La Liga of Spain. In the past few years, La Liga was all about Barcelona and how great they are. Let’s face it, up until this year, they probably were until Barca got rid of Samuel Eto’o and Real Madrid bought some of the world’s best players like they were on steroids or something, but there’s nothing to worry about….yet and hopefully they’ll keep it that way. This season, Real Madrid bought Kaká, Karim Benzemá, Xabi Alonso, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Honestly, I think it’s ridiculous how much they paid for Cristiano Ronaldo. That kind of money shouldn’t be paid no matter how good any player is. However, with all these star players, can they really win the league title, Champions league, and the other competitions they have? Real Madrid has proved in the past that having an all- star team wasn’t a good idea. Before, they had David Beckham, Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, and Raul. Sure, they started out as a great team, but as time went on they went downhill. If it happened before, maybe it can happen again this year. For their part, Barcelona has their share of star players who have proven in the past that they can win everything. With Puyol, Thierry Henry, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi (who is a beast on the field), and others they can easily prove they are the best again, but they will have to put up a good fight!
