Conterversial Concert in Cuba

User Rating: / 0
PoorBest

The concert that Juanes will give on September 20 has angered many Cuban exiles living in Miami, Florida. They are outraged that Juanes would even think about doing a concert over there because of the Castro regime that is still in power. The people think that his concert will somehow show support for communism even though the name of the concert is "Paz sin fronteras" or “Peace without borders”. Some people are well aware of the fact that music isn’t going to immediately change anything or have a major impact in Cuba, but Juanes is doing it to promote peace or to get across the message that we should all start moving towards it by accepting each other. In this case, it would be a friendlier relationship between the U.S. and Cuba. Other stars, such as Victor Manuel and Ana Belen have openly supported Juanes and have offered to even perform at the concert, but there are still those who shown hostile attitudes towards it. Some have even gone as far as to destroy his CDs with hammers on the streets. The idea isn’t that bad and the Cubans have a right to enjoy his music as much as any other person does.

Here's an interview Juanes did regarding the concert.
