The Sweet Miss RaoAmrita Rao Having FunAmrita RaoAmrita Rao: Playin' It Cool

For those who are unaware, Amrita Rao is a Bollywood actress and a talented one for sure. She’s had quite a number of hits up her sleeve since her debut seven years ago with films like Ishq Vishk, Masti, Main Hoon Na and Vivah. But her success seems to end right there. The year 2009 is slowly coming to a close and Amrita just didn’t seem to pick up after the success of Vivah in 2006. Now the question is: How could this have happened? There’s actually a simple answer: Uttam, Amrita’s manager, who was hired shortly after the success of Vivah. Since then, her films have been flopping left, right and center (though she did have one critically acclaimed film, but how many people have actually heard of it?).

It’s time for Amrita to start listening to her fans and for her to understand what we, as an audience, want. Instead, she’s simply doing what her manager wants to see or better yet, listening to the advice of professionals who think they know what we want, though clearly they don’t. Three years without a single hit and Amrita still chooses to blindly listen to her manager. Well Amrita, my dear, how’s that workin’ out for ya? Or better yet, how long?

There once was a time where a young girl, by the name of Amrita Rao, came into the film industry, on her own merit, and revived acting as an art form in Bollywood rather than it being just another occupation. It was clear from the beginning that without any training, she had a great talent, a calling perhaps, to be here, which is why her fans have always demanded good scripts for Amrita. And though she would be selective with her films, her fans patiently waited knowing that a talented actress like her would do justice to her role. Lately, however, these same fans are starting to get sick and tired of her recent films and roles and who’s to blame? Is it her no-good manager Uttam, who may be more preoccupied with his own career than Amrita’s? Is it Amrita’s fault? I mean seriously, she acts like nothing’s wrong when clearly there is something wrong (then again she is talented). Or are the directors to blame because they underestimate her talent or moreover simply look her over for her on-screen inhibitions. After all, do directors want an actress who can act, or someone who’s willing to flaunt it all for a paycheck? Back in the good old days, her roles had depth and she wasn’t there just to add some glamour. It’s about time that we see her in complex and sophisticated roles that we know she is capable of.

It’s nice to see that her fans are stepping up for her though she shows no concern for them whatsoever. Amrita, dear, you seem to have forgotten, so let me remind you. We watch your films; we increase your popularity; we push you up the ladder of success. Most importantly, you are where you are because of us. Essentially, we have the power to make (or break) your career. So dear, you may want to consult with your fans next time Uttam offers you a piece of advice Wink

Good Luck AR! =)
