From the pop/punk band Boys Like Girls comes their second album, Love Drunk, which is to be released in early September of 2009. The first, self-titled, album from BLG released in 2006, featured songs that made them who they are today—a talented band with an overwhelmingly immediate fan base. These songs were the ones that first entranced their fans, the demos that they posted on MySpace just to see what the response would be. Two of these demos are the love ballad about summer romance titled “Thunder”, and the song all teens could relate to, the one that speaks of just getting away from everyone and everything, “The Great Escape”. This debut album, while obviously having songs about boys liking girls, also featured themes like a struggle with adolescence, illness and leaving home. In 2007, BLG played in the Vans Warped Tour, went to Japan to perform for their eastern Asian fans, and went on a headlining tour with bands such as All Time Low, The Audition, and We the Kings. In 2008 the band spent the summer on tour with other bands like The Maine and Metro Station. All of this touring, releasing of hit singles, and promoting for their first album, and for the band itself, allowed the band to make the Billboard 200 in 2007 and the U.S Hot 100 in 2008.
Now, in 2009, the band is set to release this new album, Love Drunk. Apparently it was recorded in two different locations for there were two different producing teams and thus, this album will also feature two different sounds from BLG. The first single, and music video, off this soon to be released album is titled “Love Drunk” and features actress Ashley Tisdale. The second single released in early August is titled “She’s Got a Boy Friend Now”. Two other songs from the album can now be heard, and are titled “Heart Heart Heartbreak” and “Two Is Better Than One”.
After listening to these songs and watching the video for “Love Drunk”, I am REALLY looking forward to this album release. I mean, I loved their first album and the style of it. So when I heard that there were a couple new and different styles on this second album from BLG, I got really excited to hear it. Of these four new songs for this second album, I love all four of them! That’s a good sign, right? Ha-ha.
Below are the 6 songs mentioned in this article. Check them out, and leave your feed back. Are you anxious for the new album release? Or did these four new songs just kill all hope of a good record? Leave your thoughts! :]
